Bibs, Blocks, & Booties (Really, Shoes)

I've been busy sewing again the last couple days - finally found some new shoe patterns to try out.  And, surprise, I'm currently working on a pattern of my own since I couldn't find exactly what I wanted for free.  But on to the recent fruits of my labor!

Blocks, Blocks, Blocks!

I spent Sunday afternoon putting these fabric blocks together for Katelyn.  My one regret is that I did not have anything to jingle inside.  I bought some jingle bells and such at Hobby Lobby today to experiment with for the next ones!

Today's Results!

Well, I didn't get around to all three projects for today but I did have fun with two of them.

Kimono Shoes:
Ok, so after I had a total DUH moment on the first attempt, I got these sewn in about 15 minutes!  Super quick!  I would do it a little different if I attempt a second pair with this pattern, though:

I'll post my results when/if I get them done.  :)

Babies & iPhones

Katelyn has been fascinated by my iPhone for the last month or two and I'm really torn between letting her play with it and protecting it from her and her from it.  Her motor skills are still developing and she has a tendency both to drop what she's holding (what 6 month old doesn't!?) and to THWAP herself in the face with it.  So, considering it's an iPhone specifically, I've decided to try out a few apps for Katelyn... something that will entertain her while still allowing me control of the phone!  Here's what I'm going for so far:

Dobby's Wisdom

I have been reading through the Harry Potter series over the last few months.  I have never read them before - I just knew they were always a touchy subject among Christians.  Once I decided where I stood, I decided to read them for myself.  So far (I'm about halfway through Book #4 - so don't ruin any of the surprises!), I am really enjoying them.  I read a few pages this morning and something really caught me about a passage concerning Dobby, the house-elf.  VERY long story made short, house-elves are pretty much slaves, but they have been slaves for so long they actually think they enjoy it.  They just can't imagine any other life than what they have.  Dobby, however, sees the truth about his condition and wants very badly to be free.  But under the house-elves laws, he is a slave for life... until Harry steps in and helps him be freed from his master.  All of that is back-story to what I was reading this morning.

(Mostly Disney) Movie Wish List

I have always loved Disney movies and now, as Katelyn is getting older and more interested in TV, I am thinking about all the movies I'd like to add to our little collection... movies that were magical for me as a child.  And I hope they will be the same for my little girl!
